comment	I think that it's really great that this information
was put online. It was very interesting and helpful. I'm
planning a tirp some where in the near future to Loch Ness
and am very much looking forward to it. I am very intrigued
by the Loch Ness Monster and have read many books on
her. I do believe that Nessie is real and from the different
opinions, I would have to say that it is a plesiosaur that
somehow got traped into the Loch durring the ice age.
Scientists that believe that dinosaurs were killed in the
ice age think that all of the land dinosaurs were driven to
extinction but that the water dinosars lived even though
frozen and are now trapped in various lakes around the
world that were formed and seperated by the ocean when
the ice melted. Well, keep up the good work and thank you!

comment	I am a firm believer in the Loch Ness
Monster. I have read every book that
I could possibly find about the legendary
creature. Something that you might want
to add is the very first sighting made
by Saint Colombo in I believe the 1500's.
I appreciate your work in this area. I
have never been to Loch Ness myself
but I'm going to sometime I have even
thought of making my home there
because of the beauty. I want to search for
Nessie when I become old enough
I guess I have what some people might call
monster fever. Tim Dinsdale had that
too though and look what happened
he got a video of her. If you could
send me any information that you
might have I would be most gratefull.
Thank you for your time and hard work

should leave "Nessie" alone and stop trying to use her as a

Thanks so much for the scone recipe. It'll be great fun to try. I've 63

comment	Well, I think that there is something in
the loch! What it is can be anything
from a phrehistoric plesiosaur to an
unknown water creature to science, but
I believe that nessie must be a
prehistoric water creature, that may be
a plesiosaur; which is offcourse my
favourite guess. The reason why I say this
is that there is still lake champlin
which is loch ness's neighbour lake, I
think so? This is what I heard on
television I think! Well in these
lakes is similiar creatures which can be
the same as nessie! These creatures
could all have survived the ice age in
the lakes. Well the close-up of nessie
look real, the question is just how
was it taken? Well I believe that
photograph is real.

creature most likely exists. If a creature is smart enough to
avoid human detection it will probably avoid extinction. That has got
to be the one reason a creature like that would be able to survive.
Is it such a good idea that we find it?

comment	I'm very intrigued by the whole mystery. I first heard
of the mystery when I was only 12 years old. I am now 22 years
old and am very interested in traveling to Scotland to see the loch for
myself.I was wondering if there are restrictions on American citizens
finding employment in the UK. Also, I was wondering if there are
any employment opportunities which involve the mystery
of Loch Ness. If anybody out there knows anything related to my
questions, please E-mail me at gmeadows@niu.edu or phone me in the
USA at (815)758-6053. I am very anxious to hear from somebody who
shares the same enthusiasm as I do on this subject.

the world, there have been many stories of similar
monsters in other lakes, for example in a lake near here,
the lake of Banyoles, exist a life form known as "apuds",
believed to have survived from prehistorical times. Therefore why should
there not be a "monster" in Loch Ness and many other unknown
forms of life in similar places waiting to be discovered "officially".

comment	I don't think the fotograph is a fake. I
believe in the existence of the monster,
but still, this picture troubles me somehow.
I've seen a lot of pictures of Nessie, and by studying it's shape,
I came to the conclusion that Nessie is a pleseosaurus.
The foto displays a head that doesn't match that of a pleseosaurus,
but it is possible that I am wrong, so the picture is acceptable
as proof of it's existence.
I hope you'll keep updating this great page.

Bart

comment	I belive that the Lochness monster is real and that
the reason the sonar couldn't pick up anything is that the
plesiosaurus (Nessie)has evolved into the plesiosaurus
of today which is more cunning and has a more developed noise that
can not be picked up on sonar but only by a much more sofisticated
device the ear of another plesiosaurus. yes I belive there is
more than one around. Or that they are smart enough that when
they heard the ping of the sonar they ran into an under water
tunnle which took them out under the mountains around lochness

I strongly feel that the possibility of
the Plesiosaur surviving to this day is
great! Just look at the Ceolocanth, thought
to have been extinct, it was found just
about 5 or 10 years ago in the ocean. In
it's habitat from millions of years ago!

1913, the youngest daughter of Lewis
Harrison Urquhart and Mary Elizabeth
Carter of Roanoke, VA. She endowed all
of her children with a love for all
things Scottish and, especially, for the
Highlands and the ruins of Castle
Urquhart. It is my fondest wish to visit
the Highlands and the castle and to make
my own search for Nessie. I would be honored
and delighted to hear from anyone there
with photos or topographical maps of the
castle and surrounding area, in particular,
Glenurquhart. I am in the midst of writing
a novel in which Castle Urquhart plays a
vital role. I have communicated by fax with
the owner of the Clansman, but it was several
years ago -- when I had just begun the book.
Please give Ian my best if possible. The work
is still in progress!
My best to all, as well..

comment	I have never been to Scotland, But I once did
a research paper on Nessie. I haven't heard anything about her
in the last several years. It is possible that Nessie does
exist today. The lochs used to be all connected at one time
and some are still connected by locks and waterways. Is it not
possible that when researchers scan Loch Ness that Nessie was
in another loch at the time? So is it my belief that Nessie
exists...yes. Is the 1977 photo real or fake? I don't know. Maybe
Nessie just wants to be left alone. If she wants us to know
she's there, I'm sure we'll know.

Ness Monster. I would like nothing better than to be
able to come to Scotland and spend some time there trying
to observe it on my own.
It is my feeling that there is definitely something living
in the loch as so many people have seen it over the years
and the description is often quite similar to other sightings.
I thoroughly enjoyed your web page and will come back and
check it for updates. Hope there are more sightings soon!!

comment	I really am a firm believer in the Loch Ness Monster.
I do some whta feel the need to discover if there truely is such a
being as so many people think there is. But I am also wary of doing
this because as soon as you do prove its exsistence you are going to find
that every scienctist, every doctor, and every crazy mad professor
from all over the world will becoming to Scotland to run some kind
of test on the poor creature, some kind of an examination. We a world
together have no idea how this kind of animal, monster, or fish
(call it what you like) will react with human contact. Prehaps
it will become violent and attack people. We simply have no idea of
how some creature from a whole different time period will behave.
How can we ever assume we can just preform a few simple tests on
it and that's it? What happens if it it reacts unfortunatley and
dies? Then we will have thegreatest scientific loss the world has
ever seen. I do as stated in the vegining of this little note
believ the is a creature of some kind roaming around the waters
of the Loch. Butso far it has left us totally alone without
harm, without violence. We should give it the same
respect....if Nessie is ever truely found LEAVE IT ALONE!!!
                Yours truely,
                   Molly R. Traynor

-The picture was taken to close for it to be real.
-The angle of the neck is not curved as it is when Nessie swims.
-The head is rounded, and most of the sightings record a head that
is more narrow like a horse's head.

have discovered all large species of ocean

seriously hurts science to stop looking simply
because a few fake pictures or claims make a

only pictures I'm almost sure are fake
are the ones taken by ness-scape. The
reason I think this is because in every

Also an animal living underwater as much

that much of its body out of water like
the photographs show him doing.

I am an exchange student from Washington State studying at James
Watt College in Greenock. I went with a friend this past weekend
on a car trip up to Inverness and we drove down by Loch Ness as far
as we could because the road was closed after Drumnadrochit.
The area sure is beautiful, with the castle and the ominous Loch.
I am a believer of the Nessie, anything is possible!!
People can not disregard the fact that the deepest part of the loch
has yet to be found and that so many sightings have happened,
even that far back!! There may be an underwater world of connected
caverns. Who knows!! Anyway, I was just cruising the internet,
because this fascinates me now, after having visited the area.
Great net site!!

comment	To all concerned,
I am not an expert on the subject of the Loch Ness Monster
I do not believe her to even be a monster. I am a very open minded
person who when I was 6-7 years old first heard of the creature
from a teacher at school. I am now 21, and ever since that time
I have read newspaper articles, magazine clippings, books, watched
videos, taken surveys, and otherwise learned myself in every
possible way with as much L.N.M material as I could come across.
Nothing short of actually visiting the Loch or even seeing the creature
itself are some of the steps I have taken to try and familiarize
myself with this elusive creature. I find myself wondering at times
if whether or not the mystery will ever be solved. If a creature
will ever be discovered, or if society will shun the idea and
attack the locals as pulling off the biggest publicity scam of
all time (since B.C. I have read). In light of the recent
discovery of possible underwater tunnels and caverns, I am looking
forward to the sligh! It possibility that some light will be shed
on this mystery. I hope that one day I may visit Scotland
and see Loch Ness for myself. Good luck to all involved.

what could possibly be, one of the oldest mysteries in our mysterious
world. Maybe technology and preservence will finally tell us what is
there and, if we have any fore thought, we can co-exist with "Nessie",
and not just hunt her down for some display.Keep up the great work...I will
be back to check in on the progerss of the new expedition into the caves!
Sincerely,
Clayton Molle

comment	I'm 42 years old, and when I was about 5 years old
I had a set of dinosaur books that had pictures in it.
Even at that early age I heard about Nessie, and from the
way they described her I kept telling people that it sounded like a
picture of one of my dinosaurs. No one really paid attention to me
but it didn't matter. I knew that no one knows for sure what is
extinct or not. No one lives at the bottom of the seas, so
how do they know they don't exist? As I grew older, more and more
people began saying "Hmmmm, it looks like this particular dinosaur."
No kidding! So -- do I believe in a family of Nessies that
can reproduce and could possibly be connected to other underground
caverns? Absolutely! But I DON'T believe in UFO's...I do have some
sense. Thank you
for your information. It will help my son's report!

comment	Dear Sir,
First off your page is VERY well done.
I've been into Nessie since I was very
little. I just thought I might give you
some helpful information to help update
your page. 1. If you have already heard
the Surgeons photograph was addmitted to
be a hoax. Ironically, one of the persons
involved was the man who fabricated the
hoax with the hippopotamus foot. 2. It
was proven some time ago that Stuart's
photo (you have it written down as Stewart)
was also admitted to be a hoax. It was
actually bales of hay covered with taurpin.
Even though these hoaxes haved surfaced,
I still have faith that Nessie is real.
I hope I've helped with the few minor
discripencies.
Sincerely,
Laurean Broadbent

constructed decoy used to allow someone to continue the myth.
The Loch is not large enough to allow a careful investigation of
the area to miss finding concrete proof. I do, however, have more
confidence that someday we will find proof of intelegent life on other
planets. We have the technology to research our own planet. This
technology has never found any evidence of a creature the size
of Nessie in the area in and around Loch Ness.

Nessie is from the media. Does this large amphibian exist? The stories
date too far back to deny it.There are similar stories from
British Columbia, Lake Champlain, New York, and even Lake Erie.
I doubt Lake Erie is deep enough for any large creature, but the
rest I won't discount as an engineer and scientist. We have much to

possibility that the photos are fake.
I am sorry to say this as I am a very
big fan of UFOs, government conspiracys,
and the like. However, it would be all
to easy to fake a photo like the one
from '77. Harder proof must be
presented.

comment	I know Nessie is there and he/she will appear, but only
when the creature feels secure. That awareness is hard-won knowledge
that man, the planets' dominant species, is an inherently destructive
beast whose insatiable greed will stop nothing short of destroying the
planet and mankind-hopefully. For God's sake leave the poor beast alone!
Haven't we done enough damage to our fellow creatures. The earth will
smile when mankind is dead, and wonder what took God so long to rid
it of the pestilence called mankind.

are some caverns built by the previous owners as some sort of escape
and turned out to be the home now of Nessie. Also, what would happen
if they discovered him. Would they now leave him alone, or try to cut
him up and study him.Why don't they put a device at the bottom of the
lake to stay there for some time, and observe for any heat movement
or sound, and tracking devices. And study more on how the bottom of
the lake looks like and if their are any hidden caverns more carefully.

fascinate me. Although there is no real proof of Nessie, I truly
wish that he/she exists. It would certainly lend a touch of magic
and excitement to our world.
